Oman Contributes $1 Million to Support Children in Palestine

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman has pledged a significant contribution of USD 1 million to provide vital assistance to children in the State of Palestine, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to humanitarian causes in the region.

This generous contribution will play a pivotal role in supporting UNICEF’s efforts to deliver essential aid to vulnerable children in the Gaza Strip, where they face dire humanitarian crises compounded by ongoing conflict. From threats to their safety due to relentless bombardment, severe malnutrition, and strained healthcare services to the disruption of education and profound impacts on mental health, children in Gaza are confronting unprecedented challenges.

With the backing of the Omani government, UNICEF will strengthen its lifesaving interventions to safeguard the well-being and future prospects of children in the State of Palestine.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman for its unwavering commitment to children,” remarked Sumaira Chowdhury, UNICEF Representative in Oman. “This generous donation will make a profound difference in the lives of children who are enduring unimaginable hardships and require urgent support to survive.”

Despite immense obstacles, UNICEF remains steadfast in its mission to deliver critical assistance on the ground. Prioritizing the provision of safe drinking water, medical supplies, educational resources, and support to healthcare workers, UNICEF aims to alleviate the suffering of children and families in Gaza.

Emergency supplies, including water pipes, vaccines, medical kits, blankets, tents, and hygiene kits, have been swiftly deployed to address urgent needs. Additionally, humanitarian cash assistance has been distributed to over 500,000 people, providing vital support to vulnerable families.

In the West Bank, UNICEF continues to deliver essential child protection services, including mental health and psychosocial support, ensuring that children receive the care and assistance they desperately need.

UNICEF remains steadfast in its advocacy for a cessation of violence and calls for unhindered humanitarian access throughout Gaza. Through concerted global efforts and continued support from partners like the Sultanate of Oman, UNICEF strives to create a safer and more secure future for the children of Palestine.
