Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Attends BRICS+ Summit in Kazan
Kazan, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, participated in the BRICS+ Summit, held from 22nd to 24th October in Kazan, Russia. The summit was inaugurated by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, with the participation of heads of state, government officials, ministers, and representatives from 38 countries.
In his address at the BRICS+ Summit, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and expressed his gratitude to President Putin and the Russian Chairmanship of BRICS for their hospitality and efforts in hosting this year’s summit.
“The UAE appreciates these efforts to enhance international dialogue at a time when collective action is crucial to addressing global challenges,” Sheikh Abdullah remarked. He praised the Russian Chairmanship’s role in advancing BRICS as a platform for international cooperation, not only in resolving current issues but also in shaping a future that ensures global prosperity.
Sheikh Abdullah highlighted that BRICS serves as a model of multidimensional cooperation, noting that the UAE places international collaboration at the center of its foreign policies. He emphasized that partnerships grounded in shared interests and mutual respect, rather than narrow, temporary considerations, are the foundation for sustainable progress.
During his speech, Sheikh Abdullah underscored the importance of global collective action in addressing challenges such as economic shifts, climate change, energy issues, and conflicts. He stressed that multilateral cooperation within frameworks like BRICS is essential to finding long-term, constructive solutions.
His Highness called for immediate action to end conflicts, notably the ongoing violence in Gaza, and urged the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid and the initiation of a political process based on peaceful coexistence and international legitimacy. He also condemned violations of international law and UN resolutions in Lebanon, calling for de-escalation and humanitarian efforts.
The UAE Foreign Minister reiterated the importance of strengthening cooperation with BRICS and its partners in fields such as trade, investment, energy transition, sustainability, transport, and food security. He also expressed the UAE’s belief in expanding international cooperation to develop innovative economic strategies and drive sustainable growth.
“In today’s world, multilateralism is not an option, but a necessity,” Sheikh Abdullah stated, highlighting the UAE’s readiness to collaborate with BRICS nations in promoting this approach and supporting efforts to include developing countries in global economic decision-making.
Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting BRICS’ expansion and deepening engagement with friendly nations and global alliances. He concluded by thanking President Putin and the Russian Federation for their warm reception and expressed hope that the summit’s outcomes would strengthen cooperation among BRICS nations.
Sheikh Abdullah was accompanied at the BRICS+ Summit by a high-level UAE delegation, including Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al-Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs and the UAE’s BRICS Sherpa; Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to Russia; and Khamis Rashid Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Council for Diplomatic and Consular Affairs and the UAE’s BRICS Sous Sherpa.
