Istanbul, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates (UAE), led by Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, participated in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Istanbul from June 21–22 under the theme “The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in a Transforming World.”

During the session, the UAE delegation emphasized the need to strengthen joint Islamic efforts to address pressing regional and global challenges, underscoring dialogue and diplomacy as essential tools for conflict resolution. The UAE reiterated its commitment to promoting peace, stability, and the rejection of extremism and violence across the Islamic world.

The UAE delegation reaffirmed the country’s firm position on the Palestinian cause, categorically rejecting any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians. It reiterated the importance of achieving a just and lasting peace through the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Concerning the crisis in Sudan, the delegation expressed grave concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation and called for an urgent transition to a civilian-led political process, free from military influence and backed by the international community. The UAE also stressed the importance of ensuring the immediate and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and preventing any attempt to politicize or weaponize relief assistance.

The UAE also firmly rejected the baseless accusations recently made by the Port Sudan Authority. The delegation pointed to the International Court of Justice’s ruling on May 5, 2025, which dismissed the case against the UAE, reaffirming the unfounded nature of the allegations. The delegation highlighted the UAE’s ongoing support for peaceful resolution in Sudan and noted that the UAE has provided over USD 680 million in aid since the onset of the conflict.

Additionally, the delegation highlighted the UAE’s strides in technology, artificial intelligence, and sustainability, noting initiatives such as the introduction of an AI curriculum in public schools and the country’s high rankings in global competitiveness indices.

In line with its green transition goals, the UAE reiterated its dedication to achieving Net-Zero emissions by 2050 and advancing global water sustainability through initiatives like the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative.

The UAE also underscored its foreign aid policy and the launch of the ‘Erth Zayed Philanthropies’, an initiative inspired by the humanitarian legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The UAE’s participation in the OIC session reaffirmed its proactive role in addressing critical issues facing the Muslim world and advancing collective efforts for peace, stability, and sustainable development.
