Ambassador of Romania Dr. Dan Stoenescu Meets Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi to Deepen Pakistan–Romania Friendship and Cooperation

Karachi, The Gulf Observer: In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral and cultural relations, the Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, Dr. Dan Stoenescu, met with the Commissioner of Karachi, Syed Hasan Naqvi, to discuss enhanced cooperation at the local level. During the meeting, both sides agreed on the proposal to establish a Pakistan–Romania Friendship Monument in Karachi.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both parties, along with the Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC), to celebrate and further deepen the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Romania. Ambassador Stoenescu commended Commissioner Naqvi for his proactive approach and support in identifying a suitable location and facilitating this landmark initiative.
Ambassador Stoenescu also announced the forthcoming reopening of the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Karachi, which will serve the Sindh province and further enhance consular and economic engagement.
The Pakistan Romania Business Council will supervise the construction and maintenance of the Friendship Monument, envisioned as a symbol of peace, friendship, and cultural harmony between the two nations, which are celebrating 61 years of diplomatic relations this year.
Both sides expressed their intent to expand cooperation at the local government level through exchanges of best practices in urban management, sustainable development, and public administration. They also discussed opportunities to promote educational partnerships, including student and academic exchanges, as well as joint research initiatives.
In addition, the two sides emphasized the importance of enhancing economic ties, facilitating business-to-business cooperation, and promoting investment and trade opportunities between Karachi, Sindh, and Romania’s major cities.
A proposal was also discussed to name a road in Karachi “Constanța Avenue” and to reciprocate by naming a road in the Romanian port city of Constanța “Karachi Avenue”, symbolizing the enduring friendship between the two port cities.
This meeting reflects the ongoing diplomatic goodwill and the shared aspiration of Pakistan and Romania to foster stronger cultural exchange, local cooperation, and economic partnership in the years ahead.
