Amir of Qatar and Meloni Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues in Rome

Rome, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, held an official session of talks with the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni, today at Villa Doria Pamphili Palace in Rome.

At the outset of the session, Prime Minister Meloni extended a warm welcome to HH the Amir and his accompanying delegation, expressing hopes that His Highness’s visit would further strengthen and develop the relations between Qatar and Italy across various sectors.

In response, HH the Amir thanked the Italian Prime Minister for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He emphasized his aspiration to enhance the robust ties between the two nations for the mutual benefit of both friendly countries.

During the discussions, the leaders explored avenues for bolstering bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, investment, energy, and defense. They also addressed significant regional and international issues, focusing on the ongoing developments in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Lebanon. Both leaders underscored the necessity of intensifying efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and to achieve a ceasefire in the affected regions.

The session was attended by a distinguished delegation, including Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Chief of the State Security Service HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, and several senior officials.

On the Italian side, key attendees included Minister of Environment and Energy Security HE Gilberto Fratin, Chief of the Prime Minister’s Office HE Gaetano Caputi, Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister HE Fabrizio Saggio, Military Advisor to the Prime Minister HE Franco Federici, along with other senior officials.

Prior to the official talks, HH the Amir and Prime Minister Meloni held a bilateral meeting to exchange perspectives on various regional and international matters.

Following the talks, Prime Minister Meloni hosted a luncheon in honor of HH the Amir and his official delegation, further emphasizing the warmth of the diplomatic ties shared between the two nations.
