Azerbaijan, Italy Strengthen Agricultural Cooperation with New Agreements

Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov held meetings with Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida and President of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) Matteo Zoppas during his visit to Uzbekistan, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The discussions centered on boosting trade in agri-food products and fostering direct linkages between entrepreneurs through participation in international exhibitions. The sides also exchanged views on advancing cooperation in technology transfer, joint research initiatives, and the sharing of expertise in key areas including winemaking, animal husbandry, and dairy farming.

Both parties expressed strong interest in further strengthening agricultural ties and expanding trade in agri-food products between Azerbaijan and Italy, underscoring the growing importance of collaboration in ensuring sustainable agricultural development.

On the sidelines of the meetings, Azerbaijan’s “Agro Procurement and Supply” OJSC, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Italy’s leading farmers’ organization “Coldiretti” and the “Filiera Italia” Association, which represents the country’s agriculture and agro-industrial sectors.

The agreement aims to broaden cooperation across agricultural and agro-industrial domains, with a focus on building a productive, sustainable, and export-oriented economy.

Officials noted that the initiative marks a significant step toward deepening Azerbaijan–Italy relations in agriculture and enhancing opportunities for business partnerships and knowledge exchange.
