The first and foremost issue of Pakistan Cricket is the un-professional and lack of visionary top hierarchy. Most of the appointments are political. PCB has failed to determine that Marketing and Commercialism is one aspect and Operations is the other aspect. Frequent changes in leadership, lack of consistent policies and political interference hinders the long term planning. They called foreigner coaches to train their own staff through train the trainer program. Now BCCI is the strongest board in the world. The bench strength of Indian Cricket Team become remarkable. On the other hand, PCB has no vision to cope the modern day cricket.

Another reason of Pakistan Cricket decline is the ambiguous selection criterion. As per PCB Chairman Statement before T20 World Cup, that PSL top performer will be selected. Here is the problem that how a player selected at international level without accessing PSL quality and standard of pitches. One of the example is Shadab Khan- he debuted as leg spin bowler but based on PSL performances he selected as middle order batsman with the comprised bowling form in the ODI and T20 main event.

On the other hand, the quality of domestic competitions has been questioned, with many arguing that the domestic league does not adequately prepare players for the rigors of international cricket. The inconsistency in the domestic setup has also led to a gap between domestic and international cricket standards. Further, fuel added to fire is the centralization of the domestic cricket structure, with a limited number of teams, has reduced opportunities for many talented players, affecting the overall talent pool. Players already deprived from opportunities somehow, perform and showcasing their talent but not able to make their placement in the squad due to unjust criterion of selection.

The most important issue in Pakistan cricket now days is the Media campaign for any player who dropped or not selected in the team. The proper campaigns launched for that particular player. Such campaigns backed either by Player himself or by the PR agencies. Because of these pressures campaigns, selection of players always become a question before even going to any tour or event.
