Azerbaijan Bids Farewell to People’s Artist Rasim Balayev with State Honors

Baku, The Gulf Observer: A solemn farewell ceremony for Azerbaijan’s renowned People’s Artist Rasim Balayev is being held at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre, drawing state officials, cultural figures, and admirers from across the country.
The late actor, celebrated for his iconic roles that left a profound impact on audiences, also served as Chairman of the Board of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan and was a recipient of the State Prize, along with prestigious national honors including the “Shohrat,” “Sharaf,” and “Istiglal” orders.
The ceremony is attended by senior state and government representatives, reflecting the nation’s deep respect for Balayev’s enduring contributions to Azerbaijani arts and cinema.
The coffin of the distinguished artist has been placed on a pedestal on the theatre’s stage, which has been solemnly adorned for mourning. Wreaths sent by President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, as well as various state institutions, have been laid around the pedestal.
Colleagues, friends, prominent members of the cultural community, and admirers continue to arrive at the venue to pay their final respects, honoring the legacy of one of Azerbaijan’s most distinguished artistic figures.
