Azerbaijan, Netherlands Strengthen Cooperation on Socio-Economic Development and Green Initiatives

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), held a high-level meeting with Dutch officials, including Caroline Ramaekers, Head of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Division at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Rebel Rijper, Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands; Marianne de Jong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan; Johannes Kirpestein, Deputy Head of Mission; and Shahla Balakishiyeva, Senior Policy Officer of the Embassy.

The discussions centered on Azerbaijan’s socio-economic development agenda, with a particular focus on green energy, climate resilience, digital transformation, the Middle Corridor, transit transportation, expanding export potential, and strengthening public–private sector partnerships.

During the meeting, the Dutch delegation was briefed on the initiatives and achievements under “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development” and the “Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026.” Emphasis was placed on bilateral exchange of expertise in agro-innovation, water resource management, sustainable food systems, the circular economy, and renewable energy.

The parties also explored opportunities for joint research, integration into regional and global value chains, logistics corridors, and innovation financing instruments. The session concluded with the presentation of the book Middle Corridor, produced through a partnership between CAERC and the OECD, highlighting Azerbaijan’s strategic transit and trade initiatives.

The meeting underscored the commitment of both sides to strengthen cooperation, promote sustainable development, and advance regional connectivity.
