Azerbaijan, Pakistan Hold 4th Round of Political Consultations in Islamabad

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The 4th round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan took place in Islamabad on January 23-24, marking another milestone in the deepening of bilateral relations.

The consultations were co-chaired by Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, and Amna Baloch, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.

Expanding Cooperation Across Multiple Sectors

During the discussions, the two sides reviewed cooperation in various fields, including politics, economics, trade, agriculture, education, culture, energy, and tourism. Both parties underscored the importance of high-level reciprocal visits and their positive impact on strengthening bilateral ties.

President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Pakistan last year and the bilateral agreements signed during the visit were highlighted as a pivotal moment in Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations. Similarly, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the COP29 Leaders’ Summit in Baku was described as a testament to the strong and dynamic partnership between the two nations, founded on a solid basis of friendship and brotherhood.

Focus on Peace, Reconstruction, and Strategic Cooperation

Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov provided updates on Azerbaijan’s peace agenda and the normalization process with Armenia. He also detailed ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and highlighted key investment projects aimed at bolstering regional stability and economic development.

The discussions further explored opportunities for collaboration on international platforms, regional issues, and other topics of mutual interest.

High-Level Meetings and Strategic Dialogue

Deputy Minister Mammadov was also received by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar. Both officials emphasized the importance of fostering strategic cooperation, enhancing high-level reciprocal visits, and addressing shared priorities.

On January 24, Mammadov addressed the 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Joint Commission, underscoring the commitment of both nations to deepen their partnership through joint initiatives and collaborative efforts.

The consultations reaffirmed the strong ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan and their mutual dedication to further advancing relations across a broad spectrum of areas.
