Indonesia, Singapore Pledge to Strengthen Parliamentary and Bilateral Relations

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani and her Singaporean counterpart, Seah Kian Peng, have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing parliamentary and bilateral relations between their nations.
Following their meeting in Jakarta on Friday, Maharani stated, “We both agreed to maintain, strengthen, and improve the relationship between the parliaments of Indonesia and Singapore, as well as to support the governments of both nations.”
Focus on Cooperation Across Multiple Sectors
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including inter-parliamentary collaboration, bilateral economic partnerships, socio-cultural relations, and the evolving global and geopolitical landscape.
Maharani highlighted that both parliaments are aligned in supporting the policies of their respective governments, with the Indonesian parliament pledging its full cooperation during President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s administration for the 2024-2029 term.
“We aim to build on the accomplishments of the previous term, continuing all the positive efforts and improving areas that have not yet been addressed,” she added.
Commitment to Regional Stability and ASEAN Collaboration
Both leaders emphasized the importance of fostering peace, security, and stability in Southeast Asia. Maharani noted that the Indonesian and Singaporean parliaments are united in promoting initiatives that benefit ASEAN countries and strengthen regional cooperation.
“At every international event involving the Indonesian and Singaporean parliaments, we agree to promote initiatives that are beneficial for ASEAN countries and for both nations,” she affirmed.
