Azerbaijan Secures Record-Breaking Victory in FIFA Series 2026 Opener

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Azerbaijan national football team registered its biggest-ever win in an international fixture, defeating the Saint Lucia national football team 6-1 in the opening match of the FIFA Series 2026 tournament.
The match, held at the Mehdi Huseynzade Stadium, saw a dominant performance from the home side under the leadership of head coach Aykhan Abbasov.
Goals for Azerbaijan were scored by Emin Mahmudov, Rahim Sadikhov, Musa Gurbanli, Toral Bayramov, Vusal Isgandarli, and Rustam Ahmadzada, sealing a historic result that marks the largest margin of victory in the national team’s history.
The match was officiated by Georgian referee Giorgi Kruashvili.
Azerbaijan is scheduled to play its next fixture in the tournament on March 30 at the same venue against the Sierra Leone national football team, as it looks to build on its impressive start in the competition.
