Azerbaijani and Moroccan Parliamentary Leaders Discuss Enhanced Cooperation in Tashkent Meeting
Baku, The Gulf Observer: As part of her working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan for the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, held a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the House of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco, Sidi Mohamed Ould Errachid.
During the meeting, the two parliamentary leaders engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan–Morocco relations, emphasizing the friendly and cooperative ties between the two nations. Both sides noted the steady development of their political dialogue, grounded in mutual respect and shared values.
Speaker Gafarova and Speaker Ould Errachid underscored the importance of continued collaboration within international organizations, highlighting the reciprocal support that Azerbaijan and Morocco provide to one another across various multilateral platforms.
The significance of high-level visits and parliamentary exchanges in advancing bilateral ties was also stressed. The speakers acknowledged the essential role that inter-parliamentary cooperation plays in further deepening relations and fostering mutual understanding between the two countries.
Recalling her official visit to Morocco with appreciation, Speaker Gafarova remarked on the positive impact of such engagements on strengthening bilateral relations. She also discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation between parliamentary committees and members of both legislative bodies.
Furthermore, Speaker Gafarova provided detailed insights into the work of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), highlighting the efforts undertaken during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship to reinforce its institutional development and global relevance.
In response, Speaker Sidi Mohamed Ould Errachid expressed Morocco’s keen interest in cooperating with the NAM Parliamentary Network and commended its constructive role in addressing global challenges through inclusive parliamentary dialogue.
The meeting concluded with discussions on additional matters of mutual interest, reaffirming the commitment of both sides to further expand their bilateral and inter-parliamentary partnership.
