Pakistan Delivers Second Consignment of Emergency Aid to Myanmar Following Earthquake

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan has delivered its second consignment of emergency relief aid to Myanmar, aimed at assisting those affected by the devastating earthquake that struck the country on March 28. The 35-ton shipment, which includes essential goods for the survivors, was officially handed over by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Myanmar, Imran Haider, to the Chief Minister of Yangon Region at Yangon International Airport.

This latest delivery brings the total amount of relief assistance provided by Pakistan to 70 tons. The aid is a continuation of Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to supporting Myanmar’s recovery efforts, following the tragic earthquake that claimed the lives of over 3,400 people and left more than 4,500 injured.

Under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) played a crucial role in the coordination and timely dispatch of the aid, ensuring that it reached its destination quickly to address the urgent needs of the affected population. The consignment includes vital supplies such as tents, blankets, ready-to-eat meals, medicines, and water modules, which are essential for the immediate relief and recovery efforts.

Ambassador Haider expressed Pakistan’s continued solidarity with Myanmar during this challenging time, reaffirming the country’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance. The second shipment underscores Pakistan’s ongoing support for the earthquake survivors and its determination to help the country rebuild in the wake of this catastrophic event.

A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake devastated Myanmar, causing widespread destruction and displacing thousands. The United Nations has described the scale of destruction as “staggering” and has called for international solidarity to assist Myanmar during this humanitarian crisis.

The first shipment of 35 tons of aid was sent earlier, containing a similar assortment of essential goods, further demonstrating Pakistan’s steadfast dedication to supporting Myanmar in its time of need.
