Azerbaijan's FM Discusses Bilateral Ties and Regional Issues with U.S. Official

Baku, The Gulf Observer: On Monday, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a significant meeting with Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council. The discussions focused on enhancing Azerbaijan-U.S. relations and addressing pressing regional issues.

During the meeting, the officials reviewed the current state and future prospects of the reconciliation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Foreign Ministry’s press service highlighted the importance of intensifying efforts to establish positive dynamics in the bilateral relations between the U.S. and Azerbaijan.

Minister Bayramov provided Carpenter with an update on the reconciliation efforts and the recent signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, along with the outcomes of the Istanbul meeting. Despite notable progress in the negotiations, Minister Bayramov pointed out that ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan, entrenched in Armenia’s constitutional and legislative frameworks, pose a significant challenge to finalizing the peace agreement.

Additionally, the meeting addressed various regional matters of mutual concern, underscoring the commitment of both nations to work collaboratively towards stability and peace in the region.
