Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia Strengthen Legal Cooperation

Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia explored opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in legal and institutional matters during a courtesy visit by Malaysia’s Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), M Kula Segaran, to the Sultanate’s Attorney General, Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Nor Hashimah binti Haji Mohammed Taib.
The meeting, held at The Law Building, was part of Malaysia’s ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship tour, which focuses on legal and institutional reforms across the region. Discussions centred on strengthening collaboration in commercial arbitration and international mediation, as well as fostering knowledge sharing and capacity building between the two nations.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a structured framework that would be mutually beneficial, reinforcing cooperation in key legal sectors. The discussions underscored the importance of regional legal alignment and institutional synergy to enhance the effectiveness of legal systems within ASEAN.
The meeting was attended by Solicitor General Hajah Zuraini binti Haji Sharbawi, along with senior officials from the Attorney General’s Chambers, further emphasizing the significance of the discussions in advancing legal cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.
