Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: On Monday, over 30 performers brought Brunei’s rich cultural heritage to life in a theatrical rendition of the folk tale “Nakhoda Manis” during Pesona Warisan Brunei 2024. The production, presented by Lakap Lagor Entertainment and directed by Faridah binti Haji Ibrahim, also known as PWP Medina, depicted the journey of Nakhoda Manis, a young man venturing beyond his homeland.
The narrative explored Nakhoda Manis’s internal conflict between his desire for exploration and his familial responsibilities, particularly the wisdom imparted by his mother, Dang Ambun. Themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the significance of staying connected to one’s roots resonated deeply with the audience, conveying values passed down through generations.
