BYD to start production of EVs into Uzbekistan

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Another automobile production enterprise, the BYD Uzbekistan Factory JV, is being established in Uzbekistan.

An investment agreement was signed between the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Chinese conglomerate BYD to organize the production of electric and hybrid vehicles and components in Uzbekistan.

The joint venture will produce cars running on alternative energy sources. The planned production volume in the first and second stages of the project will be 50 thousand units and after completion of the third – 300 thousand.

In 2022, the BYD conglomerate became the world leader in manufacturing cars powered by alternative energy sources. Thanks to the industrial, scientific, and technical achievements of the Uzbek automotive industry and the investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan, BYD Uzbekistan Factory will be the conglomerate’s first joint venture outside of China.
