Canada, UK, and France Warn Israel Over Gaza Offensive and Aid Blockade

Canada

Ottawa, The Gulf Observer: Leaders from Canada, the United Kingdom, and France have warned they may take action, including sanctions, if Israel does not stop its military offensive in Gaza and lift restrictions on humanitarian aid.

In a joint statement, the leaders said blocking essential aid to Gaza’s civilians is “unacceptable” and may break international humanitarian law. They also criticized Israeli plans to expand settlements in the West Bank.

The warning came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would continue to control Gaza, despite growing international pressure.

The Western leaders said the suffering of people in Gaza is “intolerable” and called Israel’s plan to allow limited food into the area “wholly inadequate.”

They also backed efforts by the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt to reach an immediate ceasefire and said they support recognizing a Palestinian state as part of a two-state solution.
