Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: In a significant event marking the cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, a bust of the renowned Kazakh poet and philosopher Abai Kunanbayev was unveiled today in Dushanbe. The ceremony, held as part of the ongoing Days of Kazakhstan Culture in Tajikistan, was reported by NHC, citing the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information.

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Culture and Information, Aida Balayeva, addressed the attendees, highlighting the event’s importance for the cultural rapprochement of the two nations. “Today, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are united not just by friendship and mutual trust based on the personal efforts of the leaders of our countries. The capital of Tajikistan has become another world capital where the image of the great son of the Kazakh people is immortalized. This is not only an important cultural event for the two countries, but also a powerful impetus for a greater spiritual mutual enrichment of the two peoples,” Balayeva stated.

The sculpture of Abai has been prominently installed in Dushanbe’s Abul-Qâsem Ferdowsi Park, symbolizing the enduring cultural connection between the two Central Asian nations. The Days of Kazakhstan Culture in Tajikistan includes a series of cultural events such as the screening of Kazakh feature films, exhibitions, and concerts, further promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchange.

The celebrations will culminate on August 22 with a grand gala concert at the Kohi Borbad State Complex, underscoring the significance of the cultural festivities. This event also precedes the upcoming state visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Tajikistan on August 22-23, at the invitation of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, marking a further strengthening of bilateral relations.
