Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-5 to Create 40,000 Jobs, Says Chinese Ambassador
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, has announced that the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-5 will generate 40,000 jobs directly and indirectly during its peak construction phase.
Speaking at the First Concrete Date Ceremony for the C-5 project of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant, the ambassador extended his congratulations and expressed gratitude to both China and Pakistan for their longstanding collaboration in promoting practical cooperation.
Ambassador Jiang highlighted Pakistan’s unique advantages in location, language, and human resources, which, when combined with China’s technological expertise, capital, and market experience, can pave the way for exploring third-party markets together.
He emphasized China’s commitment to advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other non-CPEC initiatives in a coordinated manner. “China will continue to work with Pakistan to foster an upgraded version of CPEC, consolidate cooperation in traditional areas, and expand into emerging fields,” he stated.
Referring to the latest statistics from the State Bank of Pakistan, Jiang noted that China accounted for 41% of Pakistan’s total foreign investment over the past five months, reflecting the vitality and potential of their economic partnership.
The ambassador also highlighted the achievements of China-Pakistan cooperation, citing the operationalization of the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station and the year-round functionality of the Khunjerab-Sost Pass. He reaffirmed China’s readiness to deepen infrastructure, standard, and cultural connectivity with Pakistan.
Jiang concluded by urging Pakistan to sustain the positive momentum and enhance its business environment for Chinese companies, adding that projects like Chashma Unit-5 and other non-CPEC ventures not only generate economic benefits but also promote social welfare and employment opportunities.
