China and Switzerland Discuss Middle East Peace Efforts
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Zhai Jun, the Chinese government’s special envoy for Middle East affairs, held a phone conversation on Monday with Wolfgang Amadeus Brulhart, Switzerland’s envoy to the Middle East. The discussion centered on the ongoing reconciliation dialogue among 14 Palestinian factions, which took place in Beijing in July.
Zhai emphasized China’s sincere hope that the Palestinian factions will achieve national unity and establish an independent state through internal reconciliation. He reiterated China’s appreciation for Switzerland’s proactive efforts in advancing the two-state solution and expressed a desire to collaborate further to promote regional peace and stability.
Brulhart commended China for its mediation efforts and the signing of the Beijing Declaration, affirming Switzerland’s alignment with China on the importance of Palestinian reconciliation. He noted that a unified stance among Palestinian factions is crucial for realizing the two-state solution and resolving the Palestinian issue. Brulhart also stressed the importance of continued communication between China and Switzerland on this matter.
Both envoys exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East, reflecting their shared commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region.
