Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has commended Iran’s responsible approach in preventing the escalation of regional tensions and reaffirmed China’s principled opposition to bullying, unilateralism, and the use of force.

During a bilateral meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on the sidelines of the 25th Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States in Beijing on Wednesday, Wang Yi underscored China’s support for Iran’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security.

The Chinese diplomat expressed Beijing’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Tehran in international forums, particularly within the framework of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), to help avert further instability in the region. He reiterated China’s commitment to resolving disputes through diplomacy and dialogue.

For his part, Foreign Minister Araqchi expressed appreciation for China’s constructive stance, particularly in condemning the recent acts of aggression by Israel and the United States against Iran. He briefed Wang on the latest developments regarding the aggression and the subsequent cessation of hostilities.

Araqchi emphasized the importance of the UNSC and the broader international community in upholding global peace and security, stressing that all nations share responsibility in this regard.

The two sides also reviewed the progress of bilateral agreements, particularly in the areas of trade and economic cooperation, and explored opportunities to deepen their strategic partnership through mechanisms provided by the SCO.
