China Handles 215.92 Million Passenger Trips on First Day of Mid-Autumn Festival

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China’s transportation sectors handled approximately 215.92 million passenger trips on Sunday, the first day of the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, representing a 37.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Railways saw 17.09 million passenger trips, while air travel accounted for 1.84 million trips. Waterways handled 544,100 trips. The majority of passengers traveled by highway, with a staggering 196.45 million trips recorded.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, a major traditional holiday in China, falls on September 17 this year, marking a significant increase in travel activity across the nation.
