SW China’s Sichuan Province quake death toll rises to 46
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: A total of 46 people were killed in a 6.8-magnitude earthquake that jolted Luding County in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Monday, according to local authorities.
As of 8:30 pm Monday, 16 people were missing and over 50 injured, said Wang Feng, deputy director of the provincial emergency management department.
Among the deceased, 29 are from Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and 17 from Ya’an City.
The Ministry of Emergency Management has raised the emergency response to Level II.
