Chinese and Brazilian Officials Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation and Global Collaboration

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a phone discussion with Celso Amorim, Special Advisor to the President of Brazil, on Wednesday, reaffirming the strong partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to advancing global peace, sustainability, and multilateral cooperation.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the success of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Brazil last November. The historic meeting between President Xi and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva resulted in landmark outcomes, charting a comprehensive roadmap for the future of bilateral relations.
Wang emphasized the importance of implementing the consensus reached by the two leaders, stating, “Both sides should advance key areas of cooperation under the framework of aligning their development strategies and continuously enrich the contemporary significance of the China-Brazil community with a shared future.”
Support for Brazil’s Leadership Roles
As Brazil assumes the BRICS presidency this year, Wang expressed China’s full support for Brazil’s leadership in driving greater achievements in BRICS cooperation. He also pledged China’s assistance to Brazil in hosting the upcoming United Nations climate change conference, underscoring the nations’ shared commitment to sustainability and global environmental goals.
Marking the 10th anniversary of the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum, Wang reiterated China’s readiness to collaborate with Brazil and other CELAC members to strengthen ties and build a China-Latin America community with a shared future.
Joint Efforts on Ukraine Crisis
Addressing the ongoing Ukraine crisis, Wang commended the “six-point consensus” jointly issued by China and Brazil, which advocates for a political resolution to the conflict. He highlighted the establishment of the “Friends of Peace” platform as a critical mechanism to gather consensus from the Global South and create conditions for meaningful peace talks.
Amorim acknowledged the success of President Xi’s state visit to Brazil, describing it as pivotal in setting a clear direction for comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two nations. He expressed Brazil’s eagerness to strengthen the implementation of the visit’s outcomes, working towards a Brazil-China community with a shared future for global justice and sustainability.
Commitment to Regional and Global Progress
Amorim emphasized Brazil’s dedication to the China-CELAC Forum and its willingness to coordinate closely with China to ensure the success of this year’s forum. He also underscored the importance of leveraging the “Friends of Peace” platform to further contribute to global peace initiatives.
