Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Foreign Minister Wang Yi presided over the 2024 New Year reception of the Chinese Foreign Ministry at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing on Wednesday. The event brought together over 400 attendees, including diplomatic envoys from various nations, representatives of international organizations in China, and officials from Chinese government departments.

Addressing the gathering, Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the achievements and responsibilities of China’s diplomatic service in the past year. He emphasized China’s commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and fostering healthy interactions between major countries, acting on principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness.

Wang Yi praised China as a reliable partner in the joint construction of the Asian community, contributing to global recovery and progress for all. He reiterated China’s steadfast commitment to being a member of the Global South and promoting peace talks, making new contributions to world peace and common development.

As 2024 is deemed crucial for advancing Chinese modernization, Wang Yi outlined the goal of building a community with a shared future for humanity in major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics for the new era. He expressed China’s readiness to work with all countries to strengthen the foundations of peace and security, foster friendship and cooperation, follow the path of multilateralism, and contribute to a future of development and prosperity.

Dean of the foreign diplomatic corps in China, Martin Mpana, and Cameroon’s ambassador to China, extended best wishes for the New Year on behalf of the diplomatic corps. He expressed the global anticipation to collaborate under China’s three global initiatives, aiming to create a safer, more peaceful, and prosperous world.
