Chinese Leaders Attend 2025 New Year Gala Celebrating Traditional Operas

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping and other top leaders attended a 2025 New Year gala featuring traditional operas on Monday evening at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

Joining President Xi were senior Party and state officials, including Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng. They were accompanied by people from various walks of life in the capital.

Ahead of the performances, President Xi and other leaders warmly greeted representatives from the opera community, shaking hands and extending their New Year wishes to the artists in attendance.

The gala featured excerpts from classic operas showcasing themes of heroism, patriotism, and love for China, as well as contemporary works reflecting the country’s vibrant ethnic cultures and modern ethos. Performances spanned various opera genres, including Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera, both recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.

The event highlighted China’s rich cultural heritage and the nation’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its traditional arts while fostering a sense of unity and pride as the New Year approaches.
