Beijing, The Gulf Observer: In a significant diplomatic encounter, Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee, engaged in discussions with a visiting delegation from the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party, led by Fu Kun-chi. The meeting, held on Saturday, underscored the commitment of both sides to uphold the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus while denouncing any attempts at “Taiwan independence” and external interference.

Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, reiterated China’s steadfast opposition to separatist activities and emphasized the mainland’s dedication to promoting cross-Strait exchanges, cooperation, and integrated development.

During the dialogue, Wang expressed optimism regarding the role of KMT legislators in fostering improved cross-Strait relations, urging increased participation from compatriots on both sides, particularly the younger generation, in facilitating exchanges and communication.

In light of recent earthquakes that struck Hualien in Taiwan, Wang conveyed the mainland’s heartfelt concerns and willingness to provide assistance for post-disaster reconstruction efforts in the affected region, showcasing a spirit of solidarity and support.

Fu, in turn, articulated the KMT’s aspirations for strengthened cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of building upon the shared political foundation established between the KMT and the CPC.

The discussions also touched upon the vital need to jointly safeguard peace in the Taiwan Strait and promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, reflecting a mutual desire for stability and prosperity in the region.

The 25-member KMT delegation’s visit to Beijing included engagements aimed at fostering economic and technological cooperation. They visited the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, where they gained insights into new energy vehicle (NEV) materials and technologies. Additionally, the delegation explored advancements in self-driving technology at an operation center in Beijing’s high-level autopilot demonstration zone.

Fu expressed optimism about potential collaboration between both sides of the Strait in the NEV and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors, highlighting areas of mutual interest and opportunity for future cooperation.
