Chinese Premier Calls for Enhanced Global Collaboration in China’s Robot Industry
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang has underscored the importance of fostering an open environment for technical innovation and encouraging foreign firms and research institutions to invest in China. His remarks came during a field survey visit to the 2024 World Robot Expo in Beijing on Sunday, where he emphasized the need for global collaboration to advance the robot industry.
Premier Li highlighted the necessity of establishing and effectively utilizing cooperation platforms for industrial exchanges, maintaining stable and smooth industrial and supply chains, and facilitating worldwide technical innovation in the robot industry.
During his tour of the expo’s exhibition hall, Li inquired about the performance, technological advantages, and applications of various robots on display, demonstrating the government’s keen interest in the practical outcomes of robotic advancements.
The World Robot Expo, part of the five-day World Robot Conference that opened on Wednesday, is themed “Co-fostering New Quality Productive Forces for a Shared Intelligent Future.” Li’s visit and comments reflected the broader goals of the conference, which aim to bolster technical innovation and industrial development to cultivate new growth engines and continuously enhance people’s well-being.
“Robots serve as an important yardstick for technical innovation and high-end manufacturing strength,” Premier Li stated. He emphasized that innovation in this sector should be geared towards industrial upgrading, meeting consumption demands, and aligning with global industrial frontiers.
Li also pointed to China’s strategic advantages, such as its vast domestic market and abundant innovation scenarios, which should be fully leveraged to accelerate the application of robot-related technologies in industries like manufacturing, agriculture, and services.
To further boost the robot industry, Premier Li called for increased venture capital investment, the incubation of more unicorn firms and “little giant” enterprises—small and medium-sized companies that specialize in niche markets and possess cutting-edge technologies—and the development of industrial clusters with specialized strengths.
