Chinese Premier Emphasizes Expanding Cooperation with Russia in Emerging Sectors
Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang underscored the importance of broadening cooperation with Russia in emerging sectors while reinforcing traditional areas of collaboration during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Wednesday. The meeting followed the 29th regular session between Chinese and Russian heads of government, co-chaired by Premier Li and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Premier Li conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s cordial greetings and best wishes to President Putin, noting that the two leaders have met twice this year. These meetings, he said, have set a new direction and provided strong momentum for deepening bilateral relations, a development of particular significance as China and Russia celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
Li highlighted that the stable and continuous development of China-Russia relations not only serves the fundamental interests of both nations and their peoples but also contributes to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity. He reiterated China’s commitment to working closely with Russia to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, sustain the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, expand comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation, and achieve tangible outcomes.
Amid the ongoing scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, Premier Li emphasized the development opportunities these changes present. He expressed China’s readiness to further leverage scientific, technological, and industrial innovation to drive bilateral cooperation with Russia, fostering new avenues for economic growth.
Premier Li also called for continued deepening of exchanges and cooperation in culture, tourism, education, youth, and sub-national sectors. Such initiatives, he noted, would enhance mutual understanding between the Chinese and Russian peoples and ensure the continuity of the China-Russia friendship across generations.
In the context of accelerating global changes not seen in a century, Li affirmed China’s readiness to collaborate more closely with Russia to strengthen multilateral coordination, enhance mutual trust and cooperation with developing countries, and promote a multipolar world and economic globalization. These efforts aim to safeguard the legitimate rights, interests, and fundamental principles governing international relations.
President Putin, in response, asked Premier Li to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to President Xi. He acknowledged the 75th anniversary of Russia-China diplomatic relations as a significant milestone and noted the productive discussions between the countries’ prime ministers earlier in the day. These discussions resulted in several cooperation agreements, reflecting the robust implementation of the consensus reached between Putin and Xi.
President Putin affirmed Russia’s willingness to strengthen cooperation, expand cultural exchanges, and enhance collaboration within multilateral frameworks like BRICS, advancing the Russia-China strategic partnership in the new era.
