Chinese Premier Li Qiang Calls for Enhanced Cooperation with Australia
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang expressed China’s willingness to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Australia on regional and international issues, emphasizing the importance of opposing camp confrontation and avoiding a “new Cold War.” Premier Li made these remarks during the ninth China-Australia Annual Leaders’ Meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Premier Li underscored China’s readiness to collaborate with Australia in building a more mature, stable, and fruitful China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership. He noted the significant progress made since Prime Minister Albanese’s visit to China last November, highlighting the restoration and development of dialogue and cooperation across various fields, which has led to a comprehensive turnaround in bilateral relations.
“China is prepared to work with Australia to maintain and further develop the current hard-won positive momentum of our bilateral relations,” said Premier Li. He emphasized that the fundamental characteristics of China-Australia relations are mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, asserting that the development of both nations represents opportunities rather than challenges to each other.
Prime Minister Albanese reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to the one-China policy and its stance against “Taiwan independence.” He acknowledged China’s development and prosperity, appreciating China’s significant contributions to global poverty reduction. Prime Minister Albanese also expressed Australia’s desire to maintain ongoing dialogue and communication with China, aiming to deepen cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, energy, cultural exchange, environmental protection, and climate change mitigation.
The meeting between the two leaders reflects a mutual commitment to fostering a stable and productive bilateral relationship, benefiting both countries and contributing to regional and global stability.
