Chinese Premier Li Qiang Chairs Symposium on Draft Government Work Report

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang presided over a symposium on Monday to gather opinions and suggestions on the draft government work report, underscoring a commitment to inclusive policymaking.

The session, which Li chaired in his capacity as a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, brought together experts, entrepreneurs, and representatives from sectors including education, science, culture, health, and sports.

During the discussions, representatives highlighted China’s significant progress across various sectors in 2024, describing the achievements as “hard won” in the face of global challenges. They also offered recommendations for addressing current development hurdles and ensuring effective government work in 2025.

Li acknowledged the complexities of China’s developmental landscape, pointing to increasing uncertainty and instability in the external environment. He emphasized the need for accurate situational analysis and leveraging crises as opportunities.

“China possesses comprehensive strengths in institutions, markets, industry, and talent,” Li stated, adding that the country’s trajectory of long-term economic improvement remains steadfast.

The premier outlined several policy priorities, including:

  • Adopting a more proactive fiscal policy and a moderately loose monetary policy.
  • Monitoring domestic and international developments closely to enable timely policy adjustments.
  • Deepening reforms and expanding opening-up.
  • Promoting the transition from traditional to new growth drivers through scientific and technological innovation.
  • Enhancing efforts to secure and improve people’s livelihoods.

Li encouraged attendees to continue their efforts in their respective fields, actively report on social conditions and public opinion, and contribute practical policy recommendations.

The draft government work report has also been circulated among various government departments to ensure comprehensive feedback, further demonstrating the government’s inclusive and adaptive approach to policymaking.
