COMSATS University and China Media Group Host Cultural Event “Understanding Xizang” to Strengthen China-Pakistan Ties

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: COMSATS University Islamabad, in collaboration with China Media Group (CMG), hosted a thought-provoking and culturally enriching event titled “Understanding Xizang” aimed at promoting cultural understanding and intellectual harmony between Pakistan and China.
The event shed light on the historical richness, socio-economic development, and cultural vibrancy of Xizang Autonomous Region, offering attendees valuable insights into the region’s transformation under China’s development model. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, researchers, and educationists, who hailed it as a significant step forward in enhancing people-to-people connectivity in Pakistan-China relations.
Minister of State/ Special Assistant to the Prime Minister,Huzaifa Rehmanlauded China’s people-centric development approach, stating that “Xizang is a prime example of how modern progress, cultural harmony, and environmental protection can go hand in hand.” He commended CMG’s efforts in fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.
Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, Mr. Chen Peng, highlighted Xizang’s journey from being one of China’s most underdeveloped areas to a region now excelling in education, agriculture, infrastructure, and technology. He emphasized China’s commitment to balanced development, maintaining cultural and ecological harmony, and enhancing cooperation with Pakistan.
Former Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Moin ul Haque, emphasized that the Pakistan-China relationship transcends governmental ties and thrives at the people-to-people level. Reflecting on his visit to Xizang, he praised its modern infrastructure, high literacy rate, and strong social cohesion as hallmarks of China’s sustainable development model.
Executive Director of Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future, Khalid Taimur Akram, remarked that events like “Understanding Xizang” foster intellectual exchange and promote peace, cooperation, and regional development.
Dr. Hassan Daud Butt, former CEO of the KP Board of Investment, described China’s development as a result of visionary leadership, hard work, and collective thinking. He noted that Xizang exemplifies the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, crucial for sustainable growth.
Campus In-Charge of COMSATS University, Professor Dr. Sohail Asghar, thanked CMG for organizing the event, noting that it provided students with a direct understanding of Chinese culture, innovation, and societal values, thus enhancing global awareness and mutual respect among youth.
