COMSTECH organizes ‘Nobel Fest Lectures’
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: COMSTECH organized a lecture series as part of “Nobel Fest Lectures Series”. In the second session of this series three talks have been delivered. The session was attended by participants online from different OIC member states and in-person at COMSTECH.
The Chairman & CEO, Interactive Group of Companies, Dr. Shahid Mahmud talked on the topic of “building an educated nation”. He said that the education means “Preparing a person to face everyday life.” He talked about COVID and said that it had changed our lives for years to come. To meet the challenges of the future he quoted Albert Einstein “We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive.” Dr. Shahid said that the goal should be to connect youth, policy makers, academia, think tanks, ideas and insights, bring transparency in data and process, and solve complicated national and global problems.
He suggested that the improvement of our understanding of ourselves and each other, creating cultures of harmony and civilizations of peace, adopting technologies of greater good can be the best way forward.
The talk title of the Chairman, National Center of Artificial Intelligence, and Central Project Director, Prof. Dr. Yasar Ayaz was “artificial intelligence on leading edge”. He said that artificial intelligence is a method by which computers become able to perform tasks which normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making and translation of languages. He talked about the significance, future trends, application and expected revenue generation from the application of AI.
Director Research, National University of Sciences and Technology, Dr. Hamood Ur Rahman talked on the topic of “strategic policy framework – research leading to commercialization”. He talked about the excellence achieved by NUST and discussed and addressed the question of how research leads to commercialization.
