Yogyakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Czech Republic has inaugurated an honorary consulate in Yogyakarta, marking a significant step to deepen diplomatic ties with Indonesia, particularly in the provinces of East Java and Yogyakarta. The consulate, located at the Agriculture Faculty of Gadjah Mada University (UGM), was officially opened on Tuesday in a ceremony attended by Czech Ambassador to Indonesia, Jaroslav Dolecek.
Ambassador Dolecek expressed his confidence that the new consulate would serve as a catalyst for mutual growth, fostering understanding and respect between the two nations. Highlighting its role, he emphasized that the office would act as a bridge, facilitating cultural exchanges and strengthening economic and people-to-people ties.
“This consulate aims to support and deepen the friendly relations and trade partnerships between Indonesia and the Czech Republic, while also promoting cultural interactions,” Dolecek stated. He further noted that the consulate’s success would require collaboration from various stakeholders to expand multi-sector cooperation, particularly in cultural and educational exchanges. This increased collaboration, he added, would enable both nations to develop innovative solutions to future challenges.
Hermawan Kartajaya, the newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic for East Java and Yogyakarta, highlighted the consulate’s potential to connect the Czech and Indonesian people. “Our goal is to create a platform for new ideas and innovations that can benefit both countries,” he said.
Dean of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture, Jaka Widada, welcomed the consulate’s presence, describing it as an opportunity for enhanced scientific and cultural exchanges. “This inauguration goes beyond celebrating a new office; it opens the door to deeper academic and cultural collaboration,” Widada noted.
The establishment of the honorary consulate symbolizes a commitment to strengthening Indonesia-Czechia relations, supporting both nations in advancing shared goals through cooperation in diplomacy, trade, and cultural understanding.
