Xi Jinping Urges Unified Efforts for Steady Reform at CPC Study Session
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping called for united efforts to advance reform in a steady and sustainable manner during his address to senior officials at the opening of a study session at the Party School of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. The session, attended by principal officials at the provincial and ministerial levels, is focused on implementing the guiding principles of the recent third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, which unveiled a new comprehensive reform strategy.
Xi, who is also General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, praised China’s achievements in advancing reforms, describing recent progress as a historic milestone in the nation’s reform journey. These reforms, he noted, have delivered substantive results across practical, institutional, and theoretical dimensions, marking a significant chapter in China’s ongoing transformation.
He emphasized that these reforms are rooted in essential principles, including upholding the Party’s leadership, adhering to Marxist ideals, and fostering socialism with Chinese characteristics. Xi highlighted the importance of focusing on social equity and enhancing the well-being of the Chinese people, asserting that these core principles must remain unwavering regardless of changing circumstances.
The unity of reform and rule of law was a key point of Xi’s address, as he underscored the importance of integrating law-based governance into the reform process to strengthen China’s socialist rule of law. Additionally, he highlighted the role of reform in promoting opening up, encouraging alignment with high-standard international economic and trade rules, and furthering reforms in foreign trade and investment to create a business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationally integrated.
Xi urged senior officials to lead with vision and determination in advancing reforms and to avoid backing down in the face of challenges. Building broad consensus and mobilizing positive forces across society is crucial, he said, to achieving the country’s reform objectives. All regions and departments, he added, must work diligently to implement both existing and new policies to meet annual economic and social development goals.
The opening session was chaired by Premier Li Qiang, with other top officials including Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, and Li Xi in attendance, alongside Vice President Han Zheng. In his remarks, Li Qiang emphasized the importance of understanding the principles and implications of Xi’s speech, calling on officials to implement reform measures creatively and effectively.
Xi’s address was lauded as a significant moment to strengthen confidence and rally collective efforts for reform, ensuring the effective execution of the CPC’s comprehensive reform agenda across the nation.
