Deputy PM Hà Highlights Enduring Việt Nam-Russia Ties

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: At a banquet hosted by the Russian Embassy in Việt Nam, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà lauded the enduring friendship and cooperation between Việt Nam and Russia, underscoring the resilience and expansion of their time-tested relations across various fields.

The event, celebrating Russia Day (June 12, 1990) and the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations between Việt Nam and Russia (June 16, 1994-2024), provided a platform for reaffirming the strong ties between the two nations. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Hà emphasized that the Việt Nam-Russia relationship is an invaluable asset for both countries, which should be preserved and passed down to future generations.

“For many generations of Vietnamese people, Russia holds a very important place in their hearts,” Hà stated. He highlighted the deep-rooted sentiment stemming from Russia’s consistent political and economic support, as well as the mutual affection and cultural connections shared by the two peoples.

Reflecting on the 30th anniversary of the Treaty and the upcoming 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2025, Hà remarked that these milestones offer significant opportunities for both nations to honor past achievements, capitalize on present opportunities, and chart a future built on shared values, trust, and mutual benefit.

Russian Ambassador to Việt Nam, Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko, echoed these sentiments. He noted that the traditional friendship between the two countries has flourished across all domains since the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership. Ambassador Bezdetko highlighted Russia’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), emphasizing that Việt Nam remains one of its key partners in the region.

“Russia always treasures and wishes to further strengthen ties with Việt Nam for the sake of peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world,” the ambassador remarked.

The event underscored the robust and multifaceted cooperation between Việt Nam and Russia, marking a significant chapter in their diplomatic history and setting the stage for future collaboration.
