Dubai

Dubai, The Gulf Observer: The Dubai Airshow 2025 has set a new benchmark in global aviation history, securing deals worth more than USD 202 billion—double the USD 101 billion recorded at its previous edition in 2023. The milestone further strengthens Dubai’s status as a leading global aviation hub and a pivotal player shaping the future of the aviation and space sectors.

The 19th edition of the Airshow, one of the world’s largest aerospace events, registered record attendance, attracting 248,788 visitors over five days. Attendees included senior decision makers, industry experts, and specialists from across the globe, reaffirming the Airshow’s role as a premier international platform for aviation, space, defence, and related industries.

This year’s event featured more than 1,500 exhibitors—440 of them participating for the first time—alongside 490 military and civil delegations representing 115 countries. The edition also showcased 21 national pavilions, 98 chalets, an expanded display area covering 8,000 square metres, as well as 120 startups and 50 investors.

Major aircraft orders dominated the event. Emirates signed agreements to acquire 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft and 8 Airbus A350-900 jets, bringing the total value of its new orders to USD 41.4 billion. With these additions, Emirates’ total number of wide-body aircraft orders has risen to 375, with deliveries scheduled through 2038.

Meanwhile, flydubai inked a memorandum of understanding with Boeing for the purchase of 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft valued at USD 13 billion, underscoring the airline’s long-term role in advancing Dubai’s vision for aviation growth.

The Airshow’s unprecedented achievements highlight its growing global influence and Dubai’s widening role in driving innovation across the aviation, space, and defence sectors. They also reflect strong international confidence in the emirate’s strategic direction and operational capabilities.

In line with the UAE’s ambition to lead the global space industry, the 2025 edition featured the event’s largest-ever Space Pavilion, organised in partnership with the UAE Space Agency. A two-day Space Conference hosted over 50 experts and astronauts, focusing on the commercialisation of space technologies, key industry challenges, and international cooperation.

Sustainability remained a core focus, with initiatives such as the provision of sustainable aviation fuel for participating aircraft, the use of electric and propane-powered ground support equipment in collaboration with Jetex, and exhibition halls powered entirely by renewable energy.

Operational indicators reflected strong coordination among government entities under “Team Dubai,” ensuring seamless visitor movement and efficient management across the venue.

Held under the theme “The Future is Here,” the Dubai Airshow 2025 showcased emerging trends and technological breakthroughs across the aviation and space sectors. As a catalyst for global aerospace advancement, the event sets the stage for further innovation when it returns for its next edition in November 2027.
