Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: In a significant initiative marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) has officially launched its tree planting program, titled “For Our Emirates We Plant.” In collaboration with Abu Dhabi Municipality, represented by the Shahama Municipality Centre, the event underscores the pivotal role of environmental stewardship and community engagement in building a sustainable future.

Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of EEG, commended the proactive efforts of the team in implementing this transformative program during her opening address. She expressed gratitude for the ongoing collaboration and looked forward to sustained efforts in the years ahead.

Acknowledging the support of partnering entities, including The Galleria Al Maryah Island, Rotary Club of Dubai, Den Hartogh Logistics DMCC, and Tune Protect EMEIA, Al Mar’ashi recognized their invaluable contribution to the cause. These organizations demonstrated unwavering dedication by pledging and planting 500 saplings of native trees, advancing the mission of environmental sustainability.

Providing insights into EEG’s community-based action programs, Al Mar’ashi emphasized the organization’s dedication to environmental conservation. With over 2,127,600 indigenous trees planted to date, mitigating 12,545.82 metric tonnes of CO2, EEG plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions and promoting biodiversity across the UAE.

Highlighting EEG’s alignment with the UAE’s ambitious climate action goals, including the UAE Net Zero by 2050 initiative, the Chairperson underscored the economic opportunities inherent in transitioning to a sustainable economy. She reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to the Paris Agreement.

The tree planting program serves as a poignant reminder of collective responsibility to safeguard the environment and promote sustainable actions, particularly during the auspicious month of Ramadan. EEG remains resolute in its mission of environmental protection and eagerly anticipates continued collaboration with partners and stakeholders to drive positive change.
