President Thưởng Commends Outgoing Pakistani Ambassador for Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Hà Nội, The Gulf Observer: President Võ Văn Thưởng welcomed Pakistani Ambassador Samina Mehtab in Hà Nội on Tuesday, expressing heartfelt congratulations on her exemplary service and notable achievements during her diplomatic tenure in Việt Nam.
The State leader commended Ambassador Mehtab for her active and effective contributions to fostering friendship and cooperation between the two nations, particularly highlighting her instrumental role in organizing various meaningful activities commemorating the 50th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2022.
President Thưởng acknowledged and highly appreciated Mehtab’s efforts in facilitating collaboration between ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses of both countries. He emphasized the crucial role she played in advancing the Việt Nam-Pakistan friendship and cooperation, with a specific focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
The President noted with satisfaction that numerous business delegations from Pakistan had explored investment opportunities in Việt Nam, underscoring the positive impact of Mehtab’s initiatives.
Expressing gratitude for the active support she received from the President and relevant Vietnamese agencies, Ambassador Mehtab conveyed her deep appreciation for the sentiments and hospitality of the Vietnamese people, attributing the robust growth in the country’s tourism to these positive attributes.
Highlighting the significance of economic and trade partnerships, Mehtab praised the vigorous growth of bilateral trade and expressed her hope for the prompt organization of high-level mutual visits to further enhance trade ties. She also proposed increased collaboration in information technology and called for strengthened partnerships between chambers of commerce to promote joint programs between Vietnamese and Pakistani businesses.
President Thưởng reiterated Việt Nam’s commitment to treasuring the cooperation with Pakistan and expressed optimism for the continued strengthening of bilateral relations. He endorsed Ambassador Mehtab’s proposal to increase high-level delegation exchanges, encouraging mutual visits across various sectors, businesses, associations, and parliamentary friendship groups, aiming to deepen mutual understanding and friendship.
President Thưởng extended congratulations to Asif Ali Zardari on his recent election as President of Pakistan and extended an invitation for a visit to Việt Nam. He expressed confidence that Ambassador Mehtab, with her experience, understanding, and special sentiments towards Việt Nam, would continue to contribute significantly to the flourishing relations between the two nations in the future.
