Johannesburg, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on Sunday the conclusion of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, held under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” highlighting Türkiye’s continued commitment to global peace, humanitarian aid, and sustainable development.

President Erdoğan welcomed the historic occasion of the G20 summit being hosted in Africa for the first time. During his addresses, he emphasized the international community’s responsibility to alleviate the destruction in Gaza, called for increased humanitarian assistance, and urged support for reconstruction efforts.

“Global peace cannot be fully achieved without the establishment of a free Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the 1967 borders,” Erdoğan stated on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s principled stance in advocating peace, stability, and security for the Palestinian people, the wider region, and humanity at large.

The Turkish president also conveyed Türkiye’s positions on combating climate change, advancing green transformation, promoting sustainable development, and addressing the impacts of technological progress on global development policies.

On the sidelines of the summit, Erdoğan held bilateral meetings with leaders and officials from Australia, Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Canada, Angola, Ethiopia, France, Brazil, Malaysia, Italy, Singapore, the UN Secretary-General, the European Commission President, and representatives of international organizations. “We underscored the need to build a more inclusive and resilient global economy that leaves no one behind,” he emphasized.

Additionally, Erdoğan participated in a meeting of MIKTA leaders—a cross-regional consultative platform comprising Türkiye, Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, and Australia—hosted by South Korea, the current chair. A joint statement was issued at the conclusion of the MIKTA session, with the president affirming Türkiye’s intent to further strengthen cooperation with MIKTA countries, all of which are also G20 members.

The summit reinforced Türkiye’s commitment to multilateral engagement, sustainable global development, and collaborative approaches to addressing humanitarian, economic, and environmental challenges worldwide.
