Exhibition by Azerbaijani Photographer Rustam Huseynov Opens in Russia
Oryol, The Gulf Observer: The Oryol United State Literary Museum has unveiled an exhibition by Azerbaijani photographer Rustam Huseynov titled “An Extraordinary Journey with Turgenev to the East,” news hub consultants reports. The exhibition opened in celebration of the birthday of Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev, one of Russia’s literary icons, revered as a local cultural figure in Oryol.
Marking a major cultural event, Huseynov’s exhibition has reignited local interest in Eastern culture after years of limited exposure. Through his expressive style, Huseynov captures the essence of Azerbaijan’s natural beauty and architectural splendor. His photographs transport visitors to Azerbaijan, showcasing its majestic mountains, intricate road patterns, vibrant red poppy fields, Caspian Sea waves, and the country’s ancient, elaborate architecture.
The choice of venue is symbolic, as Turgenev was deeply fascinated by the East, famously referring to it as a “land of wonders.” His writings often explored Eastern themes, as seen in his “mysterious stories” and admiration for Eastern poets. Turgenev’s literary journey to the East was later followed by fellow Russian literary greats, including A. Fet, N. Leskov, I. Bunin, and L. Andreyev.
The exhibition will be on display at the Literary Museum of I.S. Turgenev until January 20, 2025, offering Oryol’s residents a captivating view of Azerbaijan through Huseynov’s lens and a rekindling of the cultural bridge between East and West.
