Forty Indonesians and One Foreign National Evacuated from Lebanon to Be Repatriated
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that forty Indonesian nationals and one foreign national, the spouse of an Indonesian, will be flown back to Indonesia after their evacuation from Lebanon.
Judha Nugraha, Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities at the ministry, confirmed that the group was safely evacuated by land from Beirut to Amman, Jordan. “They are safe and secure in Amman,” he stated in a press release on Sunday.
The repatriation is scheduled to occur on two commercial flights, with the group expected to arrive in Jakarta on October 7. The ministry noted that a total of 65 Indonesian nationals have been evacuated from Lebanon in several batches due to the escalating security situation resulting from rising tensions in the Middle East.
As of now, 116 Indonesian citizens remain in Lebanon, with 83 residing in Beirut. Nugraha also reported that four Indonesians have chosen to stay in southern Lebanon, despite the increasingly dangerous circumstances in the region.
The ministry, in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, has intensified efforts to communicate with Indonesian nationals still in Lebanon, urging them to evacuate promptly for their own safety. Nugraha emphasized the ministry’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of its citizens abroad amidst these challenging conditions.
