Foundation University Islamabad Hosts Symposium on China-Pakistan Cultural Odyssey in NLPD
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: According to the report of the News Hub Consultants, Foundation University Islamabad (FUI), in collaboration with China Media Group (CMG), organized a symposium titled “China-Pakistan Cultural Odyssey” to celebrate and deepen cultural ties between China and Pakistan at National Language Promotion Department (NLPD), Islamabad. The event brought together distinguished speakers, including academics, media professionals, and government officials, to explore the role of media in fostering cultural and diplomatic connections between the two countries.
Dr. Hina Shahid, Head Department of Arts and Media, Foundation University Islamabad, opening the event, emphasized the longstanding cultural ties between China and Pakistan, underscoring the significance of media in bridging both nations. She highlighted her department’s dedication to promoting these cultural exchanges, setting a strong foundation for the day’s discussions.
Ms. Tabassum, representing CMG, presented an overview of China Media Group’s global operations, including the FM98 Dosti Channel in Pakistan, which broadcasts content to deepen cultural understanding. She highlighted CMG’s high-level achievements and discussed President Xi Jinping’s vision for enhancing cultural connectivity through media, reflecting the commitment of both nations to foster mutual respect and friendship.
Two documentaries enriched the event’s theme, illustrating China-Pakistan cultural and heritage connections. The first, presented by CGTN Urdu, showcased visual narratives of shared cultural heritage and mutual values. The second documentary by Foundation University complemented this by highlighting the continuous efforts in cultural bridging between the two nations.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed shared personal insights from his meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, underscoring the profound historical ties, including the writings of 14th-century explorer Ibn Batuta and China’s development contributions in the 17th century. He highlighted the critical role media plays in shaping international relations and thanked Ms. Tabassum for her dedication to strengthening China-Pakistan ties.
Following these presentations, Professor Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Director General of the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD), spoke on the close diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, calling for media’s role in promoting friendship.
Mr. Anjum Dara reflected on China’s historical connection with Central Asia and the Silk Road, emphasizing the historical depth of cultural and economic linkages.
The symposium also included participation from esteemed attendees such as Mr. Zaildar Ahsan Shah, Vice Chairman Pakistan Research Center for a community with Shared Future and Managing Director Elaan Research Center, Abdullah Khan, MD Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies Islamabad, Dr Adam Saud, Dean Bahria University Islamabad, Mr. Muhammad Ali Pasha, an analyst on Central, Southeast Asia, and China, alongside Ms. Fatima Tuz Zehra, Editor-in-Chief of The Gulf Observer, respected faculty members, and students from FUI.
Chinese Calligraphy Workshop and artwork by the students of Arts and Media Department further showcased the collaborative partnership of art and culture between the two nations.
The event served as a testament to the enduring relationship between Pakistan and China, highlighting the role of media as a bridge that not only preserves shared history but also promotes future collaborations.
