GCC Condemns Israeli Aggression in Gaza, Calls for Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid
Geneva, The Gulf Observer: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, reaffirming its support for the Palestinian people. This stance was articulated in a joint statement during the Interactive Dialogue with the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel.
The GCC called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need to allow the entry of humanitarian aid to the affected areas. The council unequivocally rejected any justifications for the continued aggression against the Palestinian people.
Expressing regret over the findings of the International Commission of Inquiry report, the GCC held Israel fully responsible in front of the international community for the current situation. Dr. Hend Abdalrahman Al-Muftah, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, spoke on behalf of the GCC, highlighting the Israeli occupation’s ongoing violations and attacks against innocent civilians. Dr. Al-Muftah reported that these actions have resulted in the deaths of 38,000 people in the Gaza Strip, characterizing them as clear violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
Dr. Al-Muftah also expressed disappointment that the committee’s report appears to equate the victim, the Palestinian people, with the perpetrator, the occupying power. She emphasized that Israel has been committing acts of genocide and violating the rights of Palestinians for over 75 years with blatant disregard for international laws.
The GCC’s call for a ceasefire and the facilitation of humanitarian aid underscores the council’s commitment to seeking justice and relief for the Palestinian people amidst the ongoing conflict.
