GCC Expresses Interest in Bolstering Cooperation with Kazakhstan

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Berik Aryn, the ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia, held a significant meeting with Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), according to the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting between Ambassador Aryn and Secretary General AlBudaiwi focused on enhancing the collaboration between Kazakhstan and the GCC General Secretariat. The discussions encompassed strategies to broaden trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties within the newly established framework of interregional cooperation titled “Central Asia – GCC.” Special attention was devoted to the preparations for the upcoming second ministerial meeting between the countries of Central Asia and the GCC scheduled for April 2024 in Tashkent.

Ambassador Aryn provided Secretary General AlBudaiwi with updates on significant internal political and economic developments in Kazakhstan, including key outcomes of the 3rd meeting of the National Kurultay “Fair Citizen – Fair Labour – Fair Wages,” presided over by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on March 15, 2024, in Atyrau.

In reciprocation, Secretary General AlBudaiwi underscored the importance of bolstering the strategic dialogue relationship between the GCC and Kazakhstan. He expressed keen interest in furthering cooperation with Central Asian countries in priority sectors such as investment, transport and logistics, science, culture, and beyond.

The GCC, comprising Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE, stands as a dynamically evolving international organization. Together, GCC countries command 40% of the world economy’s financial reserves and possess 40% of the world’s oil reserves.

The meeting between Ambassador Aryn and Secretary General AlBudaiwi signifies the commitment of Kazakhstan and the GCC to fostering mutual understanding and cooperation, paving the way for enhanced regional collaboration and prosperity.
