German Investors Propose Waste Treatment Plant in Kazakhstan

German Investors

Taraz, The Gulf Observer: German investors have presented a proposal to construct a state-of-the-art waste treatment plant, complete with by-products manufacturing, in Taraz, addressing a long-standing issue in the region. The lack of efficient rubbish recycling facilities has been a significant concern since 2005, and attempts to attract foreign investors have faced challenges until now.

Representatives from AMK Global GmbH, a German company, held discussions with Yerbol Karashukeyev, the governor of Zhambyl region, according to a statement released by the akimat of Zhambyl region.

Torsten Thieme, Director General of ThiemeBieg & Associates GmbH consortium, along with other representatives, outlined the proposed project during the meeting. The waste treatment plant aims to have a daily capacity of 500 tons and is anticipated to generate 100 new employment opportunities. The consortium plans to invest 140 million euros into the project, which aims to address up to 80% of the city’s waste through recycling.

In addition to waste treatment, the project envisions the production of valuable by-products. These include oxygen, nitrogen, compost, carbon fiber, and aviation gas. This integrated approach aligns with sustainable practices and resource utilization, contributing to environmental conservation.

Governor Yerbol Karashukeyev expressed interest in the proposal and highlighted the potential benefits for Taraz. The creation of jobs, efficient waste management, and the production of valuable by-products could significantly impact the region’s economic and environmental landscape.

The city authorities and relevant state bodies have committed to conducting a thorough examination of the project, ensuring comprehensive design maintenance. The evaluation will consider the technical, economic, and environmental aspects of the proposed waste treatment plant.

If approved, the waste treatment plant project could mark a significant step forward in addressing environmental challenges, promoting sustainable practices, and attracting foreign investment to the region.
