Hamas Insists Gaza Ceasefire Integral to Israel Hostage Deal

Gaza, The Gulf Observer: In a firm stance reiterated by the head of Hamas’ international relations office, Mousa Abu Marzouk, the resistance group emphasizes that any prospective hostage exchange agreement with Israel must include a lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
In an exclusive interview with the Al Aqsa TV channel, shared on Telegram last Sunday, Abu Marzouk disclosed plans for a forthcoming meeting of Palestinian factions in China, expressing hope that such gatherings would foster unity and resolve internal divisions.
Recent diplomatic overtures have seen China stepping forward to facilitate discussions aimed at national reconciliation between Palestinian factions. Beijing’s announcement of hosting “national reconciliation” talks between the primary Palestinian factions follows similar initiatives undertaken in Moscow earlier this year, signaling a concerted effort to mend internal rifts and forge a united front.
Highlighting the conditions Hamas seeks to impose in negotiations with Israel, Abu Marzouk underlined the imperative of a permanent ceasefire as a non-negotiable element. He further articulated Hamas’ aspiration to involve Russia, Turkey, and China as guarantors in any prospective agreement, underscoring the importance of international oversight and support.
As tensions persist in the region, Hamas remains resolute in its pursuit of a comprehensive resolution that prioritizes the security and stability of Gaza and its inhabitants. The group’s insistence on a lasting ceasefire underscores its commitment to averting further conflict and advancing the prospects for lasting peace in the region.
