Astana, The Gulf Observer: On October 21, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a one-on-one meeting with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana, as part of his official state visit.

Welcoming President Aliyev, President Tokayev emphasized the strength and depth of relations between the two nations, describing Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan as not only friendly states but brotherly nations.

“Dear Ilham Heydar oglu, it is a great honor and pleasure for me to welcome you on an official state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is a very important event for further strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between our countries,” President Tokayev said.

He praised Azerbaijan’s growing role on the international stage under President Aliyev’s leadership, noting that the country has significantly reinforced its global standing and emerged as a key regional power.

“For us, fostering economic and trade cooperation — alongside advancing our political partnership — is a highly important task,” Tokayev added. “Without any exaggeration, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are brotherly peoples, and developing multifaceted cooperation with your country is a top priority.”

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, President Aliyev thanked President Tokayev for the invitation and kind words, highlighting the fraternal ties that unite the Azerbaijani and Kazakh peoples.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank you for the invitation to visit fraternal Kazakhstan on a state visit, as well as for your hospitality. We share the same sentiments toward the people of Kazakhstan,” Aliyev said.

He commended Kazakhstan’s progress under President Tokayev’s leadership, noting the country’s socio-political stability, robust economy, and successful reform agenda aimed at modernization and national development.

“We rejoice in the successes of the fraternal country under your leadership. Kazakhstan demonstrates a high level of development, ensuring stability and strengthening its international standing. We fully support your course toward modernizing the country and enhancing its potential,” Aliyev stated.

The Azerbaijani leader reaffirmed the strategic and allied nature of bilateral relations and expressed readiness to further expand cooperation in all areas.

“Today, as part of our negotiations and the session of the Supreme Interstate Council, we will once again review our extensive agenda and outline further steps to strengthen our partnership,” he said.

The meeting in Astana underscored the shared commitment of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to deepening their strategic partnership across political, economic, and cultural spheres, reaffirming their mutual support as close allies in the region.
